Who else is out there for Cyborg at 145? Did you see that mouse under Coenen’s eye?
One thing a friend of mine made clear to me today: Cyborg is younger than me. By half a year.
I wish I could kick ass like she does.
Marloes Coenen Strikeforce Sparring & Interview
Bad-ass.
Coenen’s striking looks FUCKING GOOD here. At least while hitting mitts. Hitting a half-woman/half-machine may prove to be a different story. I am SO AMPED for this fight!
For some reason Frank Shamrock really stood out to me here, too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a host ask for consent to be interviewed the way he did. It speaks to an implicit realization that he’s dealing with a HUMAN first, and an entertainer second.
I keep forgetting his gym is on the other side of the peninsula. Gotta stop there sometime, too.

From one rematch to another, Marloes Coenen will indeed face a past opponent at Strikeforce on Nov 7 as Roxanne Modafferi has stepped in to replace Erin Toughill in the women’s fight that will remain on the undercard for the show, which could crown the next contender for a shot at champion, Cris “Cyborg” Santos.
I should probably just be creating an entirely new “Fuck Yeah” for ALL women’s MMA so I don’t consistently feel the need to post off topic news HERE… but hey. I’m kinda lazy. So here goes.
As it was reported a few days ago that Cris Cyborg had sustained an unspecified injury, it has now been confirmed that she will no longer be a part of the November 7th event on CBS headlined by Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers. She was set to fight against Marloes Coenen.
No word on whether or not there is a replacement fight lined up, but as fightlinker.com said, I’m not holding my breath.
I’m officially bummed.
I am both bummed about news of the injury AND in full support of a fuckyeahwomensmma. You can’t do anything about the first half, but you CAN do the second! Make it happen. I encourage.
